About Elena…

Elena Lawrence is a multifaceted artist who lives in Bountiful, Utah. A native of Salt Lake City, her artwork stems from her memories of childhood, many travels, and love of nature. Throughout her childhood Elena always had art materials readily available, supplied by her parents and teachers. In her adult life, she was able to take a watercolor class at Petersen Art Center for a few years where she developed her painting and drawing skills and entered a few watercolor paintings in the Utah State Fair. After receiving ribbons for her work each time, including a blue ribbon, her husband took charge and enrolled her at Salt Lake Community College to pursue the beginnings of an art degree.

While at college, both at SLCC and the University of Utah, many different art mediums were presented to her and she fully embraced each one -- oil, acrylic, metal sculpture, encaustic, and print. She had her art juried into many student shows and received two scholarships while attending. Elena graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Utah in 2017 with her Bachelors of Fine Arts with a Painting and Drawing emphasis.

Since completing her degree, Elena has exhibited at the Sugarhouse Art Walk, several art festivals where she had to have her own exhibition set up, and two solo gallery shows, one at Miri Gallery (closed) and the other at Michael Berry Gallery (closed due to retirement). She was juried into the Art and Soup Charity Event hosted by CNS Home Health and Hospice for two years in a row and the 300 Plates auction event held online due to the pandemic.

In 2020, the pandemic took over. During these months Elena decided to fill a 20 foot blank cement wall in her backyard with a mural inspired by a recent trip to France. She has also recently been invited for gallery showings at Phillips Gallery for their Christmas show and will be back for a gallery exhibit in February 2021.
